NAOUSSA: Naoussa is a picturesque provincial town on Paros Island; it extends on the north-eastern seaboard of the island of Paros. It is the second larger town after the capital, «Paroikia». The region of Naoussa was inhabited as back as the Byzantine era. It was protected by a fortress which was erected at the entrance of the old harbour of Naoussa. The Venetian Duke of Naxos had it constructed in the 15th century in order to safeguard the site from the pirates.
