Mahón, the capital of Menorca, occupies a commanding position above one of the largest natural harbours in the Mediterranean, a deep-water inlet that shaped the city’s history under British, French, and Spanish rule. Menorca Airport is approximately 5 kilometres from the city centre, around ten minutes by car, and operates direct flights to major European cities including London, Barcelona, Madrid, and Frankfurt, with frequency increasing significantly from April through October. The Barcelona ferry, operated by Baleària and Trasmediterránea from the port directly below the old town, covers the crossing in roughly eight hours overnight, providing a practical alternative for those relocating with vehicles or larger shipments.
