Cannes (Alpes Marítimos)

Cannes occupies a particular position on the Côte d’Azur that no other city on the French Riviera quite replicates. Its identity is shaped by the Croisette, the palm-lined boulevard that runs along the Bay of Cannes, and by a calendar of international events, most notably the Cannes Film Festival, that keeps the city in global conversation year-round. Behind the seafront, the old quarter of Le Suquet rises on a hill, giving the city a layered character that goes well beyond its reputation for glamour.

Daily life in Cannes centres on the Marché Forville, one of the best covered markets on the Riviera, open every morning except Monday. The Rue Meynadier offers independent food shops and casual dining. For restaurants, Mantel and La Palme d’Or at the Martinez are the reference points. The Îles de Lérins are a 15-minute ferry ride from the Vieux Port.

Cannes is served by its own train station on the main Nice to Marseille line, with frequent TGV connections. Nice Côte d’Azur International Airport is approximately 30 kilometres east, reachable in around 30 minutes by car or via the direct Lignes d’Azur bus service. From Nice airport, direct flights connect to most major European capitals and several long-haul destinations, making Cannes one of the better-connected addresses on the Riviera for international buyers.
