Cannes carries a weight that few cities on the Côte d’Azur can match. Its identity is built on the intersection of international glamour and genuine Mediterranean character: the Croisette promenade, the Palais des Festivals, the old port, and the hillside districts that rise above the bay. The Californie quarter, on the eastern heights, is among the most prestigious addresses in the city, known for its Belle Époque villas, mature gardens, and commanding views across the bay toward the Lérins Islands and the Estérel massif.

Daily life in Cannes centres on the Marché Forville for fresh produce, the boutiques along Rue d’Antibes, and restaurants including La Palme d’Or at the Hôtel Martinez and Mantel in the old town. The Lérins Islands are accessible by ferry from the Vieux-Port in under 15 minutes. The Californie district is a short drive from the city centre.

Nice Côte d’Azur International Airport, the main regional hub with direct connections to over 100 destinations, is roughly 30 kilometres east, reachable in around 30 minutes by car or by train from Cannes station. High-speed TGV services from Cannes connect to Paris in approximately 5 hours and 30 minutes, with direct services also running to Marseille and Lyon.
