”Two similar rows of brownstone houses built for their owner Finery M. Van Tassel, a grain merchant, who lived on Clinton Street on the block to the south. They were designed respectively in 1879 (Nos. 351A-357A) by Perkins & Green, architects, and in 1877 (Nos. 345-351) by the architect H. M. Tostevin. They are retardataire Italianate with some Neo-Grec decorative influence primarily at the roof cornices. The southern row has retained its balustrades and Neo-Grec pedimented doorways. The newel posts are interestingly different at Nos. 355A and 353A.”

Much of the historic detailing is intact on the Parlor level with historic ceiling molding, flooring patterns, and wood shutters.
