On a verdant hillside overlooking the village of Atenas, your beautiful paradise awaits, with over five thousand square feet of elegance and grandeur, and a warmth and personality that make it feel like a truly Costa Rican estate. This lovely home is set on the best lot in the highly sought-after gated community. With a high enough elevation for cool breezes and an achingly beautiful view, yet just a fifteen-minute walk (or three-minute car ride) from the town center, this very special house offers plenty of space for big gatherings with a cozy feel that is incredibly rare in a home of its scale. Priced to allow for the renovations and furnishings that will make this expansive property suit your unique vision, this home is being offered at an astonishing value per square meter. Enter the open center hall to take in the panoramic view from the wall of windows that stretches across the spacious formal living room and dining room. The open kitchen is a dream for gourmet cooking every day, and boasts ample cabinets, a large island, newer stainless-steel appliances. A large peninsula with plenty of seating means the lucky cook can have lots of company. Watch glorious sunsets from a porch that stretches across the back of the house from the kitchen all the way to the primary suite. This generous space with its striking columns is a perfect viewing area for toucans, coatis, agoutis, ospreys and all the natural beauty Costa Rica has to offer. A large family room, offering another exquisite view over the lawn and pool, is located between the formal living spaces and the bedroom wing. The primary bedroom suite is built in a turret style, with serene views of the lawn and pool from four walls of massive windows that keep the temperature cool and comfortable all year round. An enormous walk-in closet has space for all your needs and wants, and the great big bathroom features pebble-tile accents. Two additional bedroom suites, a large laundry room with storage, and a powder room complete the main house. The octagonal rancho adjoins the main house via a wide, covered walkway, flanked by a miniature jungle of beautiful mature plantings. The rancho itself is the jewel of the property, offering a jaw-dropping view over the mountains and the village below. The big outdoor kitchen and beautiful gathering space will be the scene of so many happy memories. A full bath and enormous attached bedroom make this an ideal spot to offer a private retreat for family or guests. One-floor living, solar hot water, and pool heating to help reduce energy costs, and a two-car porté cochere all add convenience and comfort. Also included in the sale is a two-bedroom cottage, currently occupied by a beloved housekeeper, but with potential to be renovated for family or guest occupancy. This charming house can be accessed via a footpath from the main house, or directly from the another road below. Please get in touch and it will be a pleasure to arrange a showing for you.
