An Imposing Modern Manor In A More Than 1 Hectare Garden, 1 Hour From West Paris, On The Edge Of

An imposing modern manor in a more than 1-hectare garden, 1 hour from west Paris, on the edge of the Eure and Yvelines areas. The residence stands in the centre of the grounds at the end of a drive lined with apple trees and is made up of a central section and two perpendicular wings. The two-storey edifice is flanked by two square towers and has many windows and hipped dormers. The building has been erected around a courtyard paved with large slabs in which a heated swimming pool has been installed. The roofs are made of flat tiles, topped by enamelled ceramic finials depicting animals, which come from the renowned Normandy pottery factory in Mesnil-de-Bavent. The facades are made of field stones with Vosges sandstone door and window surrounds plus quoins, while the guttering and downpipes are made of copper. Part of the construction materials originate from the former farm that previously occupied the land: the stones, tiles and roof frame were recovered, sorted and re-purposed. The northern wing includes an approximately 100-m² barn with an automatic door. In the garden near to the riverbanks, an around 50-m² two-storey brick house is currently used as storage space.
