The Quinta da Granja is a truly unique estate in the region of Tomar, distinguished both by its impressive size approximately 232 hectares and by the architectural grandeur of its main building, whose origins date back to the 16th century.

Quinta da Granja es una propiedad única en la región de Tomar, tanto por su tamaño (232 hectáreas de terreno) como por la grandeza arquitectónica de su edificio principal, que data del siglo XVI.
La historia nos cuenta que la finca fue donada a la Orden de Cristo en 1531, y que entre entonces y 1543, el prior del Convento de Cristo, fray António de Lisboa, aumentó el área construida y ordenó la construcción de «una sede de casas con un oratorio», convirtiendo así el palacio en una residencia de descanso para los frailes de Tomar.
Hoy en día, el imponente edificio tiene un área bruta de construcción de más de dos mil metros cuadrados, divididos en dos pisos y 37 habitaciones.
- La planta baja, originalmente utilizada para fines agrícolas, ahora tiene un gran hall de entrada con un gran piso de losa de piedra original, que divide el espacio. A la derecha hay una pequeña área de oración (ya remodelada), una habitación flanqueada por arcos de piedra que conduce a varios dormitorios (la mayoría con baño privado). A la izquierda del hall de entrada se encuentra la imponente escalera que conduce al piso superior, además de un área de enormes suites (aún por terminar), una antigua prensa de vino y el acceso al área más técnica.
- El primer piso, muy bien conservado, tiene pisos de madera maciza, varias habitaciones (dos con chimeneas) con techos artesonados, una biblioteca, varios dormitorios y baños. Hay dos habitaciones en esta planta que destacan: una habitación «revestida» con azulejos con punta de diamante de la primera mitad del siglo XVII, y el enorme salón, que da a las antiguas celdas de los frailes.
Dado su valor histórico y patrimonial, la propiedad fue clasificada como de interés público en 1996. La mayor parte de la finca se encuentra en buen estado de conservación, aunque hay algunos edificios en las cercanías del palacio que necesitan ser reconstruidos.
La zona rústica se extiende a lo largo de 232 hectáreas con tierras de regadío, viñedos, cultivos herbáceos, pastos, bosques y choupal, edificios rurales y un cauce de agua.
. El viñedo tiene solo 2 hectáreas, pero el área se puede aumentar fácilmente.
También forma parte de este patrimonio una zona de ocio junto al río Nabão, llamada Açude de Pedra (presa de piedra), donde muchos lugareños solían bañarse en verano.
