Mazarin District Exceptional House

The Mazarin district is the most architecturally coherent quarter of Aix-en-Provence, laid out in the 17th century as a planned extension south of the old town. Its wide, tree-lined streets, private mansions, and stone facades give it a gravity that the more tourist-facing Cours Mirabeau cannot match. This is where Aix’s established residents have always chosen to live, drawn by the quiet streets, the scale of the architecture, and the proximity to the city’s cultural core without the foot traffic.

Daily life here centres on the Marché du Palais and the Place des Prêcheurs market, both within a short walk. The Cours Mirabeau, with Les Deux Garçons and a concentration of serious restaurants, is immediately adjacent. The Musée Granet and the Conservatoire Darius Milhaud are within the quarter itself.

Aix-en-Provence TGV station connects to Paris Gare de Lyon in approximately three hours and to Marseille Saint-Charles in under twenty minutes. Marseille Provence Airport is roughly thirty kilometres away, accessible in around thirty minutes by car or via the shuttle bus from Aix city centre. The A8 motorway provides direct access to Nice, Monaco, and the Italian border to the east, and to Marseille and the wider Mediterranean coast to the south.
