This 1965 Sunbeam Tiger Mark I is a beautifully presented example of Carroll Shelby–influenced British muscle, combining classic roadster proportions with authentic American V8 power. Finished in its rare factory Balmoral Grey (paint code 76), this Tiger is one of just 27 examples produced in this color, which was only offered for a short period of time. Most Tigers finished in Balmoral Grey were paired with blue interiors, making this example-optioned with black leather and retaining its correct black dash-an especially rare and desirable configuration. This is also an early-production car, further adding to its collectibility.

The history of this Tiger adds another interesting dimension to the car. It reportedly spent time in Austria early in its life before eventually returning to the United States, where it later became part of an estate in Pennsylvania. In July 2019, the car received a Sunbeam Tiger Owners Association Certificate of Authenticity documenting its identification numbers and original colors. As an early-production example, it also retains the all-vinyl dashboard associated with fewer than 400 early Tiger examples.

The exterior presents with a purposeful, understated look that suits the Tiger’s aggressive character perfectly. The front and rear bumpers have been removed for a cleaner, sportier appearance, though both bumpers are included and remain in nice condition should the next owner prefer a more original presentation. A tonneau cover and new wheels and tires complete the exterior.

Under the hood sits the original 260ci Ford V8, paired with a 4-speed manual transmission and a 2.88 rear end, delivering the raw, mechanical driving experience these cars are known for. This is a true Mark I car retaining its original drivetrain-an important factor for collectors. In addition to its current updates, the car’s documented history includes replacement shocks, fuel and water pumps, clutch master cylinder, fuel hoses, front wheel bearings and seals, carburetor refurbishment, Pertronix electronic ignition, an aluminum radiator, and a high-flow cooling fan. More recent mechanical updates include a new exhaust system, new suspension, traction bars, and new front brake calipers, making this Tiger feel tight, responsive, and ready to be driven.

Inside, the cabin features a black leather interior with a black dash and carpeting, offering a timeless, driver-focused environment. A wooden steering wheel adds period-correct charm, while working heat makes the car far more usable than many classic roadsters. The car is equipped with power brakes and front disc brakes, providing confident stopping power to match the performance.
