Purchased “sight unseen” in Sweden in early 2014! The description “gott skick” (good condition) seems to have been down to the seller’s poor judgement or lack of vision, and was definitely not the whole truth... It took nearly four years of searching for parts, suppliers and specialists to restore the SAAB to a condition that justifies a “gott skick” rating. Consequently, the amount invested in the “92” project to date far exceeds the purchase price. The driving performance is now breathtaking once again, and knowing how effective the new braking system is, the driver is more than happy to operate in the decelerating speed range! If necessary, however, the ‘father-killer’ doors could also be extended to act as brake flaps should one be driving down the Grossglockner. The shock absorbers, manufactured in the UK, can be switched from ‘Comfort’ to ‘Sport’ and allow cornering speeds bordering on a powerslide! Attached is an overview of the extensive work carried out, the new parts fitted and the bespoke components – not to mention the capital and time invested in the project!

H-licence plate – no restrictions on entering low-emission zones

This has been NEWLY DEVELOPED:

This means that the rear lights, brake lights, headlights and indicators are all controlled via this system. At the same time, the side indicators are also activated; these are permitted to be in use as they do not extend beyond the maximum width of the bodywork when switched on.

And this is also NEW:
TÜV
Certificate of classification as a classic car

Philosophical musings:
‘Beauty is the sum of the parts, arranged in such a way that there is no need to add, remove or change anything!’ This applies EXACTLY to this SAAB! Anyone who doesn’t feel this way cannot be a SAAB fan! It conjures up a look of positive astonishment on the faces of those it encounters: “There goes an aeroplane without a propeller or wings!”

History
1945: Aeronautical engineer Gunnar Ljungström designs the first SAAB 92. Industrial designer Sixten Sason develops the final body shape based on this design.
1947: On 4 June, the development team presents the first prototype of the Model 92 to SAAB’s management. Six days later, the SAAB 92 is unveiled to the press.
1949: Production begins in December.
1950: Delivery of the first customer vehicles in mid-January. Subsequently, two racing teams compete in the Monte Carlo Rally in SAAB 92s.
1953: Rolf Mellde also wins the Swedish Championship in a SAAB 92. This is followed by the first facelift and a name change to 92B.
