Introduced for the 1968 model year, the Plymouth Road Runner was created as an affordable, no-nonsense muscle car designed to deliver maximum performance without unnecessary luxury. Named after the famous Looney Tunes character, the Road Runner featured a standard V8 engine, stripped-down styling, and an unmistakable ”beep-beep” horn that quickly made it an icon of the muscle car era. Its combination of big-block power, lightweight construction, and value-oriented pricing helped it earn Motor Trend’s Car of the Year award in its inaugural year, cementing its place as one of the most celebrated American muscle cars ever produced.
