But let’s be honest: a Mercedes-Benz that was delivered to the USA in 1988 and returned to Germany around 10 years ago – no one can guarantee with absolute certainty that it has been serviced exclusively by an authorised Mercedes-Benz dealer throughout its life. However, when a vehicle like this ends up with a meticulous entrepreneur from Swabia who spares no expense or effort to bring HIS 560 up to the desired standard of service, it means that everything has been checked from front to back and replaced where necessary.

Among other things, in addition to a major, truly comprehensive service, it was fitted with a new Sonnenland soft top. The seats were also completely reupholstered and fitted with new leather, naturally by a renowned specialist, in the original leather colour, as evidenced by the invoice amount. But that’s not all: after around 38 years, the paintwork can no longer look as good as new, no matter how much you polish it. The 560 was given a complete repaint all round, in exactly the same delivery colour as when new – 702 Smoke Silver Metallic – naturally carried out by a local specialist workshop. Naturally, there are before and after photos. The before photos can be seen in the TÜV report from late 2022, and during this inspection it was also noted that the SL is rust-free (no welding!) and accident-free. A very well-maintained, 38-year-old vehicle. The mileage is also consistent: over the past 10 years, it has only been driven for around 25,000 km during the summer months. But that’s not all. A subtle yet powerful-sounding performance sports silencer in stainless steel has also been fitted, complete with high-gloss polished stainless steel sports tailpipes. Furthermore, a wood/sports steering wheel without an airbag (registered!). The original steering wheel is available and will be supplied, or re-fitted with the airbag activated. The immaculate hardtop is included in the price. An inspection on the lifting platform is possible. Alternatively, the fitted rims can also be exchanged for rims in mint condition.

The TÜV report awarded it a grade 2 BEFORE the extensive investment. An authentic 560SL with a traceable history, in good, well-maintained condition!
Not to be overlooked: matching numbers – the engine and automatic transmission, originally fitted at the factory in 1988, are still installed in the vehicle.
