MODEL HISTORY & PRODUCTION
The launch of a unique model, the R129 SL series roadster was produced from 1989 through to 2001.

Designed by Bruno Sacco in 1984, the R129 was based on the shortened floorpan of the Mercedes-Benz W124 - it was presented at the 1989 Geneva Motor Show where it caused a sensation. Keen owners include the Late Princess Lady Diana.A two-door, two-seat roadster with an automatic (electro-hydraulic) collapsible textile roof, which came with either an aluminium detachable hardtop or optionally with a Panoramic ‘glass’ Roof.

The 3.2 litre M112 18-valve SOHC V6 engine mated to the Mercedes-Benz 5G_Tronic (722.6) electronically shifted 5-speed overdrive automatic transmission, with torque converter produces an output of 221 hp (165kw) at 5,600 rpm providing the car with top-notch sports car performance.
