Interesting facts about this MERCEDES-BENZ 190SL W121
According to the available documentation, this 190SL was produced in 1962 for the American market and returned to Germany in April 1991, settling on Lake Starnberg. It remained there until 2020 and was part of the life story of the previous owner’s family, who had it professionally maintained throughout, comprehensively and without regard to cost.
The likelihood that the actor Heiner Lauterbach, who lived there, and the SL once crossed paths – or rather, crossed roads – is therefore worth mentioning, as he was one of the leading actors in the film adaptation of the life of Maria Rosalia Auguste ‘Rosemarie’ Nitribitt
and NINA HOSS drove an identical red 190SL as “Rosemarie” in the film. The film was based on a partly true story, which ultimately earned the 190SL the nickname “Nitribitt Mercedes”. It is also true, however, that her 190SL was not red, but black.
The current owner, a Swabian entrepreneur, fulfilled a long-cherished dream and purchased the SL a few years ago. When he isn’t driving it, the car spends the year, so to speak, in the workshop of his classic car specialist, where it is expertly serviced and maintained. The roof is watertight, the gearbox shifts perfectly, the engine runs smoothly and quietly, and the brakes bite as if the drums had been replaced with discs. But far more important than anything else: the Mercedes is driven regularly, as damage caused by standing idle is ultimately more expensive to repair than driving a classic car regularly and maintaining it thoroughly. The paintwork, interior and all other technical features are in very good condition. There is much to tell, so do come and see the 190 for yourself, preferably on the hoist, and feel free to bring an expert along.

The history of the Mercedes-Benz MERCEDES-BENZ 190SL W121
On 6 February 1954, Mercedes-Benz unveiled a 190SL prototype for the first time at the ‘International Motor Show’ in New York.
Following the start of pre-production, the final version was unveiled at the 1955 Geneva Motor Show, with series production commencing in May. The 190SL, designated W121 II, was produced from 1955 to 1963 in a total of 25,881 units, of which 10,368 were exported to the USA alone. Technically based on the 4-door saloon of the W121 (Ponton) series, fitted with the newly developed 4-cylinder engine with overhead camshaft and an output of 77 kW/105 hp, the vehicle reached a top speed of around 170 km/h. The 190SL was only available without power steering, only as a manual and only with this engine specification ex works.
