This E-Type is a masterpiece sports car released in the early 1960s by Jaguar’s chief, William Lyons.
Its beautiful body was designed by Malcolm Sayer, a former aircraft engineer, and it is said to have had such an impact on sports car manufacturers around the world that all previous sports cars suddenly appeared outdated.
Even Enzo Ferrari was among those impressed, and it is said that this led Ferrari to consistently commission designs from Pininfarina thereafter, starting with the significantly redesigned 275 GTB.

The appeal of the E-Type didn’t stop at its looks; its high performance also created a huge stir.
Initially equipped with a 3.8-liter DOHC engine producing 265 horsepower, it had more than enough power and quickly became a popular model, especially in the American market.
Later, in 1964, improvements were made to the transmission and interior, including an in-house gearbox with synchromesh and revised seats. The engine displacement was also increased to 4.2 liters, making the car easier to handle. This updated version is known as the Series 1 / 4.2 model, further enhancing both its power and drivability.

This particular vehicle was imported to Japan as a new car in 1965 (Showa 40) and sold by Shinto-Yo Enterprises, which was the Jaguar dealer at the time.
Both the engine and gearbox are original.
The body colour is original gunmetal gray, while the interior has been completely renewed in red leather. The soft top has also been replaced with a brand-new one.
Subsequently, nearly all aspects of the car have been addressed, including the body, interior, suspension, brakes, and carburetors, all of which have been overhauled.
In addition, air conditioning has been newly installed.

The driving feel can be summed up in one word: smooth and powerful!
With stable road holding and surprisingly good ride comfort, combined with a smoothly shifting gearbox, this is a car that’s simply fun to drive.
You won’t find the kind of difficulty in handling that is often associated with E-Types.

Its bold performance, made possible by the large displacement engine, and its delicate, beautiful body lines — these two seemingly contradictory elements are perfectly matched, and its charm remains undiminished even today.
In fact, its appeal may only continue to grow.
