This 1964 Chevrolet Nova delivers the kind of combination that makes a well-built restomod so much fun: classic early-Nova styling, serious small-block power, a 4-speed manual, and a chassis upgraded to make that performance much more usable. Finished in a striking purple with contrasting gray stripes, the car has a bold presence without losing the clean lines that make these first-generation Novas so desirable. The paint was completed approximately two years ago and presents beautifully, complemented by polished wheels, chrome trim, and a properly aggressive stance. The car has traveled approximately 2,200 miles since its restoration.
Under the hood sits a built 406ci V8 producing an estimated 450 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque. The engine was assembled with a 10.25:1 compression ratio, cylinder heads featuring 2.02-inch intake valves, and a Crower hydraulic flat-tappet camshaft and lifters. The Ultra Beast-series cam features approximately .500-inch lift, while a high-volume oil pump helps support the performance-oriented build. An aluminum radiator and electric cooling fan help keep temperatures under control, while the clean engine compartment and polished components give the Nova a finished appearance to match its performance.
Power is sent through a Muncie 4-speed manual transmission, giving the car the engaging, old-school driving experience a build like this deserves. Out back is a 10-bolt rear end. The combination of the torquey 406, manual gearbox, and lightweight Nova platform makes for a car that should feel considerably stronger than its compact dimensions suggest.
The suspension and steering have also been upgraded for improved road manners. Up front, the Nova features a Heidts front-end setup with adjustable coilover shocks, while air shocks are fitted at the rear. Power steering makes the car considerably easier to maneuver than a stock early Nova, while power-assisted brakes with front discs provide improved stopping performance. The underside shows the extensive chassis and suspension work that went into transforming this Nova from a straightforward vintage cruiser into a much more capable street machine.
Inside, the Nova is finished in black with updated leather front bucket seats that provide considerably more support and comfort than the original-style seating. A custom center console incorporates cupholders and surrounds the floor-mounted 4-speed shifter, while an aftermarket steering wheel and updated instrumentation continue the restomod theme. The cabin remains simple and purposeful while offering the right upgrades for a car intended to actually be driven.
With only approximately 2,200 miles accumulated since the restoration, this 1964 Chevrolet Nova is a sharp, thoughtfully upgraded example that combines unmistakable 1960s Chevrolet styling with a healthy 406 V8, Muncie 4-speed, upgraded suspension, power steering, and power front disc brakes. The vivid purple and gray exterior gives it plenty of personality, while the mechanical package underneath ensures this Nova has the performance to back up its looks.
Price does not include applicable tax, title, license, processing, and/or $240 documentation fees.
