Chevrolet reintroduced the El Camino for 1964 using the popular intermediate Chevelle platform, creating a vehicle that combined the comfort and styling of a passenger car with the usefulness of an open pickup bed. For 1966, the El Camino received completely redesigned sheet metal shared with the Chevelle, giving it a lower, wider, and more muscular appearance. The model has since become one of Chevrolet’s most recognizable designs, appealing to collectors who appreciate its unique blend of muscle-car attitude and practical utility. With timeless styling and strong aftermarket support, the 1966 El Camino remains a favorite among Chevrolet enthusiasts.
