This 1957 Chevrolet Corvette Restomod combines the timeless styling of Chevrolet’s first-generation sports car with the performance and drivability of a modern LS-powered drivetrain. Finished in stunning Venetian Red with contrasting Shoreline Beige coves and a vibrant red interior, this Corvette delivers an unmistakable appearance while retaining the classic design that made the 1957 model so desirable. Chrome bumpers, polished trim, traditional Corvette badging, and vintage-style wire wheels wrapped in redline tires complete the nostalgic look. According to the previous owner, the car was repainted in 2004 in its original color combination.
Under the hood sits a 5.7-liter LS1 V8 sourced from a 2002 Chevrolet Corvette, featuring an all-aluminum block and cylinder heads. This modern powerplant provides a substantial improvement in performance and drivability over the original small-block V8 while maintaining a clean, well-integrated appearance beneath the hood. Supporting upgrades include a Painless wiring harness, 2.5-inch stainless steel exhaust headers and piping, a Griffin aluminum radiator, Flex-a-lite 220 dual electric cooling fans, a Harrison aluminum surge tank, and a CMS air bridge and filters. The engine compartment is neatly finished with Corvette-branded engine covers and carefully arranged components.
Power is delivered through a 4L60E automatic transmission sourced from a Camaro, paired with a 3.73 rear gear ratio and an aluminum driveshaft. The transmission is operated through the factory-style shifter, preserving the original interior appearance while providing the convenience of a modern automatic drivetrain. The original-style speedometer has also been retained and is reported to operate with the upgraded transmission. Additional mechanical equipment includes 11-inch steel front brakes and a stainless steel dual exhaust system.
Inside, the Corvette retains much of its unmistakable 1950s character, featuring a vibrant red interior complemented by a contrasting white dashboard and classic chrome accents. The factory-style instrument cluster, centrally mounted auxiliary gauges, and traditional dashboard layout maintain the vintage driving experience. A polished Budnik steering wheel adds a tasteful custom touch, while the red upholstery, matching door panels, and carpeting complement the exterior beautifully. The carpeting was replaced in 2016, and the interior retains its classic floor-mounted shifter arrangement.
The exterior is complemented by a set of vintage-style True Spoke wire wheels wrapped in Dayton redline tires, measuring 215/65R15 up front and 225/70R15 at the rear. The combination of polished wire wheels, redline tires, Shoreline Beige side coves, and Venetian Red paint gives this Corvette a distinctive appearance that balances period styling with subtle restomod influences. The undercarriage reveals the upgraded drivetrain, dual exhaust routing, and traditional X-member chassis configuration.
According to the accompanying ownership notes, this Corvette was purchased by a previous owner in the 1970s and subsequently received its LS1 drivetrain conversion using components from a 2002 Corvette. Additional documented maintenance and improvements include replacement spark plugs and wires in 2016 and a replacement Optima battery noted in the records. The odometer currently displays 80,892 miles, although actual mileage is not verified.
This 1957 Chevrolet Corvette Restomod offers an appealing combination of classic American sports car styling and modern V8 performance. With its LS1 engine, automatic transmission, upgraded cooling system, stainless steel exhaust, and striking Venetian Red over Shoreline Beige color combination, it presents an opportunity to enjoy the iconic appearance of a first-generation Corvette with the added convenience and capability of a later-model drivetrain.
Price does not include applicable tax, title, license, processing, and/or $240 documentation fees.
