GR Auto Gallery is pleased to present this Old School Pro Street Chevelle. This serious Street Machine features everything that the 1980’s Pro Steet movement was all about. Big rear tires that looked like racing slicks, tucked up under the car like a NHRA Pro Stocker. A big V8 engine under the hood with sparse interior that was very busy with aftermarket gauges and a racing roll bar. A trunk filled with fabricated wheel tubs. This checks all those boxes. This big tire Chevelle is a great combination of a light blue metallic paint with with black racing stripes offset by the almost stock appearing black interior. Under the hood is 454 that is built with all the strong components needed to make some serious street horsepower. The big block is mated to a firm shifting Turbo 400 that has been rebuilt to handle all the power. Out back you’ll find the traditional 9” Ford that has been narrowed and has a set of 3.73 gears and a posi unit. This bruiser rolls on Weld Wheels fitted with Mickey Thompson DOT street legal tires. New Hooker headers move the exhaust back to Flowmaster 50 series mufflers. This Chevelle has the right stance and is ready to roll. So, if you’re looking for a serious Boulevard Bruiser, here is the car for you. Drive this one out of our showroom or have us assist you with shipping anywhere within the United States!
Brainwashed by images of the likes of Scott Sullivan’s Nova in so many magazines, many street machiner’s of the ’70s transformed their cars for the ’80s by tubbing them into Pro Streeters. Nearly any car of this trend was back-halfed rather than using a full tube chassis, and many simply moved leaf springs inboard to fit huge meats rather than go all the way with ladder bars or a four-link and coil-overs. A Roots blower poking through the hood was a signature item of Pro Streeters well into the ’90s.
