For 1954, Chevrolet introduced its Hydra-Matic automatic transmission option to its light-duty trucks, making this an important year in the development of Chevrolet’s pickup trucks. The 235 cubic inch inline-six was the standard engine in the 3100 and was known for its durability and straightforward mechanical design. The five-window cab design, with additional side-window visibility behind the doors, has become one of the most recognizable features of these classic Chevrolet pickups.
