2012 AM General M1151A1 — Bespoke Edition by AVI.
A genuine, up-armored military Humvee, reimagined as a fully bespoke, road-going build, and the only one of its kind. VIN 18S4J988S31232800, showing just 3,698 miles (approximately 5,951 km), titled in Massachusetts, USA, and left-hand drive.
This is a genuine AM General M1151A1, studied, 3D-scanned, and rebuilt with the patience of a coachbuilder by AVI of Newton, Massachusetts. It is the sole example AVI has designated a ”Bespoke Edition” build, a fully documented, one-off commission. The brief was singular: preserve the rugged, utilitarian character of the Humvee in every detail, while threading modern luxury, technology, and audio invisibly through it. Finished in deep military green over a quilted, diamond-stitched interior and riding on 20-inch Black Rhino wheels wrapped in 37-inch Milestar mud-terrains, it pairs unmistakable military presence with the comforts and technology of a modern luxury vehicle.
The build began not with a parts catalogue but with a complete 3D scan of the vehicle, capturing the data needed to reverse-engineer components that fit as though they had always belonged. From that survey came hundreds of hours of CAD work and in-house fabrication across large-format and resin 3D printing. The centerpiece is a fully custom center console, more than forty hours of design time alone, integrating wireless phone charging, cup holders, concealed storage, a digital status display, and an integrated Vaultek DS2i Smart Station biometric safe with fingerprint access, all wrapped in leather and padded surfaces.
The technology suite is equally considered. A Kenwood Excelon DAX1050XR media receiver anchors the dash behind a 10.1-inch floating touchscreen, carrying Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, HD Radio, SiriusXM, and an off-road pitch-and-roll display. An RVS inView 360-degree HD camera system with AI and DVR recording surrounds the vehicle through four cameras and feeds a dedicated in-dash monitor, while a VOXX/Gentex full-display rearview mirror restores the rearward vision a slantback Humvee otherwise lacks. PITAKA and Mophie wireless phone mounts complete the cabin technology. The audio system, two pairs of JL Audio Evolution C2-650 6.5-inch component speakers in bespoke 3D-printed mounts and rear-hatch housings, was designed and tuned specifically for this vehicle.
The functional and exterior equipment is no less thorough. J. W. Speaker 8700 Evolution 2 LED headlamps light the way, and a pair of Rigid Industries SR-Series LED lamps serves as reverse lighting, paired with a reverse circuit and switch installed where the military chassis had none. A VIAIR-based 150 PSI quad-trumpet air horn system, with its own compressor and seamless air tank, supplies a voice to match the presence. Amber ambient and white footwell lighting warm the cabin, a quilted, diamond-stitched headliner and trim refine it, and the vehicle rolls on 20-inch Black Rhino wheels wrapped in aggressive 37x12.50R20 Milestar Patagonia M/T-02 mud-terrain tires. Color-matched paintwork on detail components, discreet AVI ”Bespoke Edition” badging at the rear, and the correct factory brush guard and recovery shackles complete the presentation.
Power comes from the proven 6.5-liter GEP V8 turbo-diesel paired with a four-speed automatic transmission with overdrive, full-time four-wheel drive, geared portal hubs, and four-wheel inboard hydraulic disc brakes.
Presented in excellent condition and showing just 3,698 miles, the cabin is fitted with correct Humvee seating, and the vehicle is accompanied by its complete AVI build invoice, which documents the full scope of the commission in detail, along with a clean Massachusetts title. A genuine M1151A1 reborn as a documented, one-off commission, with the engineering rigor to back the ambition, this is not merely a Humvee but the only one of its kind.
