LIMITED TO ONLY 50 PIECES WORLD-WIDE!!
6th Edition of the Caribbean's Finest Sailing Race
The principles and values of yachting are a perfect reflection of Richard Mille philosophy, which is based on a combination of extreme performance, cutting-edge technology, a clear artistic vision and respect for watchmaking tradition. The timepiece is driven by the RM 60-01, an automatic flyback chronograph caliber in grade 5 titanium, which facilitates navigation thanks to its unique rotating bezel featuring a wind rose and a graduated 360° 24-hour disc. Its operating principle relies on two key pieces of data: the local time and the position of the sun in the sky. By simply pointing the UTC hand at the sun and adjusting the local time on the bezel, the latter will indicate the compass points in both the northern and southern hemispheres without the need for any additional calculation. Specifically designed for competitive sailing.
The RM 60-01 Voiles de Saint Barth features a UTC functions and a countdown timer as well as a patented locking crown and pushers, all of which illustrate the extreme level of development attained by Richard Mille in this timepiece intended for skippers.
NAVIGATING THE SEVEN SEAS
With the RM 60-01 Regatta Flyback Chronograph, Richard Mille presents his first navigation technical watch. Using the RM 60-01 is based on two factors: knowledge of local time and the position of the sun. To calculate one's location, the UTC indicator is directed towards the sun using the UTC pusher located at 9 o'clock and then the bezel is turned so that the UTC hand lines up with the actual local time engraved on the bezel's circumference. When set in this manner, the compass headings North, South, East and West on the bezel will be correctly aligned with the actual direction on the Earth's surface.
Navigational capabilities thanks to its special rotating bezel with indications of the four cardinal points combined with a graduated 360° and a 24-hour scale disk.
Caliber RMAC2 automatic winding movement with hours, minutes, running seconds at 3 o'clock, oversize date, month, annual calendar, fly-back chronograph with central seconds counter, and 30-minute countdown timer at 9 o'clock, 24-hour totalizer at 6 o'clock, UTC function and adjustable rotor geometry.
Difficult to make. After a turning operation lasting 1 hour and 40 minutes, no less than 800 milling operations are required, taking several hours. Machining demands nearly 11 hours of separate operations. It is followed by a meticulous quality control procedure that takes a full day to eachcase. The 3 pushers, their components and the crown of the RM 60-01 require 10 days of machining, during which they undergo numerous tests for water-resistance and quality control, followed by the manual brushing and polishing of the entire case. All of these stages are vital in producing the characteristic ergonomic quality of Richard Mille watches.
By using the pusher between 4 and 5 o'clock, the running chronograph can be reset without first having to stop the mechanism. This was originally developed for pilots, in order not to lose time (and therefore accuracy) from stopping, resetting and starting the chronograph whilst traversing navigational point. Running operation: The user can start or stop the chronograph function via the pusher located between 1 and 2 o'clock. The fly-back function can be continuously reset at will be depressing the second pusher located between 4 and 5 o'clock. Stopping: Use the start/stop pusher between 1 and 2 o'clock to stop the chronograph, then depress the reset/fly-back pusher once.
