The Patek Philippe reference 2497 was produced from 1951 until 1963. Only 179 2497s were made, and of those, only approximately 20 are known to have been made in rose gold--and of those less than 1/2 have appeared back on the market. It is one of the most rare and collectable Patek wristwatches of all time. So rare, it is almost overwhelming for the collector to behold. Additionally, this is one of the uber-rare Wenger made cases--measuring a quite massive 37mm diameter by 13.2mm thick--a full millimeter larger than the Vichet made cases. This watch features a 100% original mint+ condition case and the more desirable original untouched 1st series silver indelible dial with applied rose gold Arabic numerals and dot markers. The print is untouched hard enamel. Apertures for day and month, moonphase display at 6 o’clock with date scale around it, and minutes and seconds chapter at dial periphery. Gorgeous original rose gold feuille hands and the rare and sweet blued center seconds hand.The center seconds complication debuted on this model and was not again seen on a perpetual until the famed reference 5050. The 2497 is a model is especially revered by collectors.
