Romulus is making a strong comeback today in a large and robust steel case with a resolutely contemporary design. Its round, contoured ”wave” bezel creates the illusion of a curved ellipse, and its polished surface highlights the satin finish of its Roman numerals engraved in steel.
The satin-finished case has a fine polished bevel around the circumference of its hull which is extended by the lugs on the satin finish of the outer links of the steel bracelet. The screwed caseback is engraved with a laurel wreath, in homage to the founding hero of ancient Rome: Romulus.
Under its steel breastplate, Romulus houses an automatic movement, whose bridges and rhodium-plated plates are bevelled and polished according to the finishing processes in force in fine watchmaking.
A domed sapphire crystal, cut to shape, with double anti-reflective treatment, protects the black dial, 6/12 guilloché, with steel appliques. It displays the date through aperture at 3 o’clock, the 42-hour power reserve through concentric discs at 7 o’clock. The time-setting crown is struck with the Corum key, protected by a sapphire.
This model is worn on a leather or steel strap. The latter, with shiny polished central links and satin-brushed side links, has a triple folding steel buckle with mechanical safety clasp with double side push-buttons, Corum engraved.
