This rare Breguet Type XX (Type 20) was originally introduced in 1954 for the French military, and given the reference 5101/54. The French government commissioned Breguet to supply the watches to the Air Force, Naval Air Arm, and CEV. The Type 20 style design was used for watches produced by a variety of French watchmakers and is characterized by a highly visible, contrasting dial, a flyback chronograph, two sub-dials, and a bi-directional rotating bezel.
The watch is powered by a manual movement, and features a stainless steel case mounted onto a brown leather strap, secured on the wrist with a tang buckle.
The solid caseback is engraved with FG and a date which stands for “Fin de Garantie” or end of guarantee. All of these chronographs were overhauled and their precision controlled by the Dodane company at the Service Officiel de Contrôle de la marche des montres de Besançon (CETEHOR) while in service.
The condition of this Breguet Type 20 is excellent. The case is unpolished, with minimal wear, and original beveled edges still present. The dial and lume remain untouched, seemingly since its last service by the French military watchmakers.
