Watch maker Franc Vila has announced their official sponsorship of young Mexican F1 diver Sergio Perez. While Hublot is the official timepiece maker of F1, that does not prevent other brands from sponsoring specific drivers. In this case, the watch to celebrate the new relationship serves two purposes. In addition to the watch being in honor of the sponsorship of Sergio Perez, these two limited edition timepieces are further meant to celebrate the 200 year anniversary of Mexican independence.
Limited to 28 pieces, the Franc Vila FVa8Ch Bicentenario Sergio Perez watch is based on the brand’s Cobra style watch in colors from the Mexican flag. Actually, not only are the flag colors used on the dial, but the dial itself is highly reminiscent of the flag’s design. Sergio’s initials are on the dial and replace the 11 o’clock and 1 o’clock hour markers. The steel case is complimented with a white carbon fiber dial and black or white crocodile strap. Inside the watch is a Swiss mechanical automatic chronograph movement with Franc Vila’s custom “Esprit Unique” automatic rotor. The watch is likely available mostly in Mexico only.
