First brought to life in 2015, Dubai Watch Week (DWW) is a truly global networking experience, dedicated to the culture of watchmaking and heritage. The non-commercial event was founded by Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons and aims to connect collectors, brands, watchmakers and members of the media alike.
Dubai Watch Week is “where the world unites for a moment in time”.
This year’s event will take place from Nov 16-20 at the Dubai International Financial Centre. The theme is “Classic and Contemporary” with a focus on classical craftsmanship and contemporary techniques.
The program during the 5 days is as versatile as the visitors. Highlights include exhibitions by both the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Gèneve (GPHG) and the Fondation de la Haute Horlogerie (FHH) as well as the main exhibition called “Classic and Contemporary”.
For the first time in the region, Christie’s will launch the “Auction Room”, a space where visitors can educate themselves about the world of auctions. A watch evaluation stand, master classes and a guide on how to bid form the three segments of this extraordinary exhibition.
A digital highlight is the Mastery of Time Virtual Experience. You’ll be able to re-live the milestones of watchmaking inventions as though you were right there when it happened. Complete with a VR experience, this space will give you the chance to play with timepieces and inventions that you will never be able to touch for real.
As the legend of watchmaking himself, Philippe Dufour, put it: “Dubai Watch Week has highlighted the importance of creating a networking platform where everyone can share knowledge.”
