Le Cos breaks whiskey world record with $1.2 Million sale!

Fine wine and luxury spirit retailer Le Cos sets the world record for the most expensive whiskey bottles ever sold. The two rare The Macallan 1926 bottles were sold for $ 1.2 million! Le Cos has opened its latest store recently in the Terminal 1 of the Dubai airport and this new business relationship already paid out. The bottles are labelled with original artwork by renowned artists Sir Peter Blake and Valerio Adami. The new owner is an international businessman, who bought the two bottles for $ 600,000 each and will add them to his private collection of luxury spirit. The whiskey was distilled in 1926 and aged for 60 years in ex-sherry wood, this alone makes it already to one of the rarest whiskey, but the label design makes the whiskey even more unique. Only 40 bottles were ever produced and 24 bottles were given to the two artists. The last known sale was made in 2007 at an auction by Christie's, where a bottle was sold for $ 75,000.
The Macallan distillery is known worldwide and has broken many records over the years. They hold the record for most expensive whisky bottle sold at auction with The Macallan M Imperiale, which has been sold in 2014 for $628,000 at Sotheby’s Hong Kong.
In March, the producer released 200 bottles of Macallan 50-Year-Old for approx. $35,000 each. Evidently, these record sales plus the steady increase in value, make the Macallan whiskey to one of the most popular whiskeys for collectors.
