The Robb Report, which is the definitive source for all things luxe (aside from James Spotting, of course), just released its Best of the Best for the 22nd year running. Like just about any list of this sort, there are some surprises, some no-brainers, and some controversial items. We aren’t going to give you the blow by blow–for that, head here to read it for yourself–but we’ll provide highlights in areas you care about. We’ll skip the boring stuff like décor and jewelry (Chopard won anyway) and go straight to cars.

Placing Rolls-Royce against any other car in the sedan category is just setting it up for failure. The British carmaker has set the bar time and time again for luxury, so it’s unfair to even allow others to compete unless they’re eager to be second. At the same time, Mercedes inexplicably won with its SLS AMG in the sports car category against heavy hitters like Lamborghini, Lexus, and Lotus. Not that it’s not a nice car, but the review itself admits what a beast the car is and how it won essentially due to its gullwing doors.

The most surprising choice, in our opinion, is the Land Rover Range Rover Autobiography, beating out Audi, Cadillac, and BMW. Land Rover does produce some lovely cars, but it does not have the same reputation among its competitors, so we salute you for your superb Autobiography, pictured above.
