If you have a photographic memory, you’ll recall way back in 2007 that Hennessey Performance Engineering unveiled a concept car called the Venom GT that boasted 1,000 HP clocking in at under 2,700 pounds. The rest of the world drooled over the idea but quickly forgot about it, as the easily distracted are wont to do, but Hennessey never forgot its promise. Instead, they finally delivered, although their numbers weren’t precisely accurate.
The Hennessey Venom GT tips the scales at just around 2,500 pounds with a full 1,200 horses pulling that engine. It’s powered by a Corvette ZR1 with an Elise body, and as you can see it looks stunningly gorgeous. For a cool $1,000,000, you can own one of these overpowered honeys although they’re rarer than hen’s teeth. Once one or two of these are snapped up and someone gets bored of them, you could probably snap them up here, but until then we’re forced to simply gawk and yearn.
Did we mention that this beast features two twin Garrett turbos and reaches a purported top speed of 260 mph in sixth gear? If you happen to need to hit 62 miles per hour, you could do so from a full standstill within 2.9 seconds. Did we use the term beast yet? This thing is an absolute monster of a machine and absolutely clobbers any Bugatti Veyron for less.
If you’ll excuse us, we have to go lay down for a bit. The excitement can be far too much.
