Straight out of Coastal Living magazine, enjoy "Lazy Days" and sea breezes from the shoreline at Arshamomaque Colony. Comprised of two parcels in a waterfront beach community of less than 30, let us explore the narrative of "Lazy Days" cottage. Arshamomaque Colony has been a beacon for residents who enjoy the luxury of time spent relaxing and recharging amongst shade trees and hammocks, wood-burning fireplaces and evenings along the beach since the 1940s. Dr. Valentine would journey to the North Fork from Englewood NJ to spend time with relatives and guests in the late 1930's. As the years moved forward into the next decade, he started deeding parcels of his acreage to create summer guest cottages Arshamomaque Pond and eventually created Arshamomaque Colony.
"Lazy Days" was created as a result of happenstance as the expansion and renovations of this charming home came into being. The screened front porch was the perfect space to add a dutch door entry to the prototypical cottage kitchen to allow for the summer cross breezes coming off the water through the sleeping porch. The sleeping porch is the perfect space for house guests who want to experience capturing fireflies and roasting marshmallows in the fireplace in the evenings and be up at first light to capture the sunrise on the paddleboards out on the water. A collection of comfortable chairs and glass tables on the waterside covered porch has become the destination for the late breakfast crowd. The second floor has become a retreat in keeping with the main floor aesthetics with bookcases lining the walls of the home office featuring found objects from the beach and local antique shops and an oversized window seat with views through the branches of the locust tree with the fine and delicate leaves drawing your attention as heard tell from the current owner to guests who are getting a personal tour. The bedroom takes advantage of the elevation to frame the views of the wooded shoreline across the water and the summer sunsets over Southold Town beach.
Outdoor shower keeps the sandy toes out of the house after a day at the beach and the extra lot behind the garage gives room to expand on summer games and activities.
