Description

<!--td {border: 1px solid #ccc;}br {mso-data-placement:same-cell;}-->The main house of Santo Antonio farm is one of the most important rural properties remaining from the eighteenth century, during the Gold Cycle in Brazil. Restored and adapted for contemporary use, this historic property is located in the region of Itaipava, Petrópolis / RJ, 7 km away from the old road that led gold from Minas Gerais to the port of Rio de Janeiro and 95 km away from Rio de Janeiro city. The house was built on the mill headquarters, dated 1760 and had an extension of the original construction started from 1787. This expansion follows the original design while maintaining the exceptional architecture.
The architectural design and the fine aesthetics have been studied since the late 30s, when the architect Lucio Costa guided the restoration and adaptation of the house for contemporary use as a dwelling, facing luxurious receptions. Has large openings that allow lots of natural light throughout the day, balconies designed with refined aesthetics, light and great harmony. The main house has 8 bedrooms and 5 baths with views of natural forest reserve that surrounds the entire property.
Within your particular valley with 140.576 acres, the Santo Antonio farm is in an exceptional natural setting, with water lines and 25,000 m2 of pastures; in a recreation area has a pool and an extensive lawn where it has privileged views (former golf course).
The current owners hired the renowned office Bernardes Architecture to develop a master plan in order to exploit the full potential of the property either for private use or hotel activities. This proposal was based on the adaptation of the property for hotel use, however its characteristics also offer opportunities to house institutional, cultural or business activities while retaining comparable design principles.
