Turtle Dove Lodge is one of the only hillside estates that rests on the ridge between Apple Bay and Long Bay. This strategic location offers a spectacular 270-degree view with continual breezes overlooking both beaches and their seasonal surf breaks. The shoreline twinkles with lights from various fishing or farming villages on the North shore in the evenings with undeveloped verdant green hillsides and a horizon dotted with outer islands in the distance.
To the West is Smugglers Cove National Park and Long Bay Beach with a boutique resort currently undergoing renovations. This will soon have amenities such as a large swimming pool, gym, and restaurant. To the East of Apple Bay are some of the best surf spots in Tortola and several popular restaurants such as De Coal Pot, Sugar Mill, Bananaquit, and within walking distance is nearby Sebastian's on the Beach. Just a 10-minute drive to West End there are other amenities such as Soper’s Hole Marina, a Riteway grocery store, Voyage Yacht Charters, and the West End government seaport where one can conveniently catch a ferry to either Jost Van Dyke, Road Town, or to the United States Virgin Islands.
The generous open plan allows the breeze throughout, keeping it continually cool while you relax and enjoy the gorgeous sunsets. The villa; is at the end of a private drive midway up the hill where you can rest assured in the privacy and security of your own private and secluded location.
The kitchen, lounge, and dining open plan area are surrounded by large folding doors opening onto the deck and balcony. This main level living area offers a master bedroom with an ensuite bathroom and a large walk-in closet. The whole house design is centered around enjoying the dramatic sights along the horizon by day and listening to the sounds of the surf at night.
At the back of this level through a hallway are the small office or guest bedroom and guest bath with a walk-in shower. The deck with outdoor sofa, BBQ, and stairs leading down to the lower level grants lower access to the parking lot.
The lower level accommodations consist of a large storage room with a combined laundry room and workroom beside the second ensuite bedroom with large doors leading along the walkway and lower deck where you can enjoy soaking in the jacuzzi and sipping a drink.
Amongst the lush gardens are walkways to two concrete cisterns where separate guest cottages once stood. The guest cottages were usually rented out by avid surfers or honeymoon couples on vacation. Having a solid concrete foundation these cottages; can quickly be rebuilt and serve as additional accommodations once again.
It is an exceedingly rare occurrence that a home in the BVI will have such a clear view of two such dramatic beaches along with the Caribbean sunset. Turtle Dove Lodge is truly a unique hideaway located on the northwest shores of Tortola.
