Water’s Edge is located in the heart of one of nature’s great wonders. Built among the giant granite boulder fields of Virgin Gorda, this is a contemporary Caribbean fantasy home, in a secluded and tranquil setting, nearby The Baths. Any new owner of this grand property will enjoy sharing both the alluring natural scenery and their deluxe accommodations, in a one-of-a-kind setting for the most extraordinary experience in the BVI.
Water’s Edge was designed so that construction of the house would not disturb the natural environs or distract from the location’s historic beauty. Tucked away in a cavernous area, the exterior garden walls enclosing the private property stand with an intriguing Brazilian hardwood door, sparking curiosity of what is behind it.
Upon entering, an instant sense of awe is felt as the home is fitted around a spread of the wondrous boulders. The sensation of tranquillity is felt as the panoramas of the Caribbean ocean hook the eyes to embrace the alluring turquoise sea. Water’s Edge is uniquely connected with outdoor living as all three of the property’s buildings have been constructed to fit around the granite rocks. Cream coloured exteriors with white peaked-roofs and orange clay tiles provide soft tones to fit with the vibrant scenery. Large folding glass doors and picture windows clasp the views while enabling a refreshing breeze to travel throughout the indoor living spaces. The patio and deck afford plenty of space featuring an outside bar area equipped with power points and a spot for an extra fridge. In addition to multiple expanses for stargazing and sun lounging, when it’s time to cool off, the 24ft pool with its unique little river and footbridge are a blessing for a refreshing dip.
The home is a blank canvas waiting for the personal touches of its new owners to be implemented into the design, furnishings, and decor. The first building contains the kitchen and dining area, with state-of-the-art cooking facilities, sparkling tortoise shell granite countertops and custom wooden cabinetry. This great room offers an ocean view and is flooded by natural light from the floor length windows which open to the outer deck. A central island in the cooking space comprises bar stools and a small sink and station for preparing cocktails, as well as a temperate-controlled wine fridge in the expansive space to serve and entertain guests relaxing on a unique built-in stone sofa. An expansive pantry with addition kitchen prep area joins the great room to the indoor and outdoor shower, bath and laundry areas which are accessible for pool use.
From the second building, the expansive windows deliver a dramatic view of the ocean, appearing almost as a painting of prehistoric, unworldly setting. This room was intended as the main indoor living area, and the design possibilities are endless for any new owner to craft the room with the comforts and amenities they desire.
The third building holds two and a half bedrooms accommodating up to six guests. Both of the main bedrooms have direct patio access, where a smaller second pool rests, while offering seclusion between the boulders and views looking out to sea. The en suite bathroom features a powder area for makeup, double sinks, and a gorgeous outdoor shower constructed between the boulders. A second bedroom is fitted with a queen-size bed, en suite bathroom with an outdoor shower, a small kitchenette with a sink and mini fridge, and a private patio for relaxation.
