Magnificent estate nestled at the foot of Cortona’s Golden Valley in the Southeastern corner of Tuscany.

The property comprises the impressive main villa that dates back to the 16th century and several other smaller yet beautiful and functional buildings such as a private chapel, a limonaia, a series of cellars and an astounding Baroque fountain complex and reflecting pools.

The Villa’s lawns are adorned by many statues and plantings, but also by a swimming pool and tennis courts. The park is surrounded by tall walls and covers an area of 4,5 hectares (9.8 acres).

The property also includes about 10 hectares (25 acres) of a separate and yet nearby piece of agricultural land where the Villa’s olives and grapes are grown.
The water supply, needed for the ponds, pool and the greenery is guaranteed thanks to the wells, but most importantly to a spring upstream in the property.

The Villa

The 18th century villa is a wonderful example of a patrician family’s country property that has evolved gradually over the centuries. The Villa once belonged to one of the most distinguished noble families within the Cortona’s history.

The manor house is a three-level, rectangular-shaped building of 965 sqm. The main entrance is located at the first floor, accessible via the grand double staircase plus internal stairs linking the various floors. The building has 28 rooms that were recently restored, including impressive public rooms with coffered ceilings, trompe l’oeil frescoes and marble fireplaces. A particularly important room within the Villa is a private chapel dedicated to the Virgin Mary.

Outbuildings

On the right of the Villa is the Limonaia, specifically created to house the lemon trees during the winter. This building of 315 sqm includes a storage room of 225 sqm on the ground floor and an apartment of 90 sqm on the first floor.

Adjacent to it is the magnolia building of 370 sqm, once used to display vintage cars. This long and narrow space has now become a perfect location for parties.
What once used to be a stable is today a two floor building of 310 sqm: the ground floor consists of a wine cellar and a basement, while the first floor has an apartment of 155 sqm.
There is another independent outbuilding of 170 sqm used for storage.

The Villa has all the elements that one could desire in a luxury Tuscan country property. Cortona is within a short drive of the estate and it is also conveniently located to visit many other famous sites such as Florence, Montepulciano, Siena and the Chianti area.
