Vechtzigt estate, an alluring mansion on the river Vecht in Breukelen
One of the oldest remaining estates on the river Vecht is the captivating Vechtzigt. This historic estate, which includes large front and rear houses, occupies a unique spot on Zandpad in Breukelen, overlooking the Vecht. Originally Vechtzigt was a farmstead. The rear house’s ground floor dates back to around 1575. Through the centuries many structural changes have been made, culminating in the impressive national monument that now occupies the site. Following painstaking and thorough renovations commissioned by the current owner in 2007-2008, Vechtzigt has now regained its previous allure.
