Meyersdal’s private and semi-private schools are rated as some of the best in South Africa, like Marion College, St. Martins, Highveld Primary School and Alberton High. Action sports are popular here, and the Meyersdal Sports Arena, voted best soccer arena for two years in a row, is a great place to get involved in recreational sports such as action cricket, netball and soccer. Meyersdal History Meyersdal was probably named after the Meyer Family, who originally settled on the Elandsfontein farm that Alberton was founded on around 1904. The original Meyer's farmhouse (built in 1904) has been kept in its original state and is still apparently inhabited by the Meyer family. Meyersdal Attractions Houses in this exclusive suburb are close to well-established shopping malls like De Maronette, Meyersdal Mall, The Glen and Camaro Crossing Shopping Centre. These centres have many pharmacies, clothing stores, restaurants and entertainment areas offering great family fun.
