But here is what you should have in mind:
The Vintage 1964 Thunderbird has been meticulously restored to its original condition and is ready to ride. The modern T120 has been completely customized by our team of expert craftsmen in Lyon, FRANCE.
Let’s focus a little bit on the former: Introduced for the first time on the 1957 Triumph 3TA ‘Twenty One,’ and later the 1959 5TA ‘Speed Twin, Edward Turner’s idea to enclose the rear wheel was a move to offer superior weatherproofing for British riders—but it was a total flop in the States
.. In the USA, first export market for Triumph back in those days, the local dealers often removed the rear fairing off the bike as soon as delivered to increase the chances of sale. Unsurprisingly, Triumph eventually abandoned the design.
This ambivalence motivated us to acquire a 1964 Triumph Thunderbird and use it as an inspiration, with a close difference: BAAK’s Bathtub is a unique piece that will never be mass produced.
From the first paper sketches to the final road tests, almost 2 years passed, BAAK’s team dedicated a part of its time to achieve this ambitious “bathtub” redesign project without falling into the trap of the vintage copycat cliché.
Unsurprinsingly the biggest job was the design and the metal shaping of the body panels: the all-encompassing rear fender, the twilight assembly integrating the gauge as well as the front fender. The rear assembly alone took more than 25 days of metal shaping work.
The red leather work on the seat and the BAAK signature fork gaiters compliment perfectly the pearl gray paint and carry on the color scheme of its valiant ancestor.
This pair is ready to be shipped anywhere in the world (shipping cost not included). If the buyer opt for a delivery in the USA, an extra 3 months is required to transfer the Bathtub kit on a US spec T120.
