Antique Hetian Jade Scholar Thumb Ring (18th-19th c, Qing Dynasty), ancient China. Most of such scholar ring in ancient China are plain with no words or pattern inscribed, but this one is unique.
This ring was customized by the wearer a few hundred years ago. It has his personal motto written on it "Qin Shen Jian Le" which means "diligence, caution, thriftiness, happiness" in elegant traditional Chinese writing style.
On the other side of the ring, a mythical animal of Qi Lin is depicted walking on the sea - it is said to be a decedent of dragon and brings good luck to people.
Workmanship is traditional. Material: Hetian jade is the most precious kind of jade in traditional Chinese culture. Condition: two minor inner lines in the jade, as shown in the pictures. Otherwise very good condition.
