The TR4A (Triumph Roadster 4A) was a sporty roadster produced by Triumph from 1965 to 1967 which represented the evolution of the TR4 model designed by Giovanni Michelotti and for some time assembled in Italy by Ducati.
The TR4A featured a renewed chassis and a complex system of independent rear suspension with oscillating arms, with the aim of presenting a car with better handling than the previous model.
While the engine power remained unchanged, recovery had been improved thanks to the adoption of new manifolds and new mufflers with separate exhausts.
The aesthetic differences between the TR4 and the TR4A were minimal and the two models differed in very few details including a new grille, side arrows on the sides with chrome stripes and a new emblem on the engine hood.
On request it was supplied with a wooden dashboard and instrumentation with chromed frames. Among the options, there were also spoked wheels, overdrive, heating system and seat belts.
The pinnacle of the Triumph TR4A racing career was reached in 1966, when the Triumph racing team took the top three positions in the 2500 Grand Touring class in the 12 Hours of Sebring with three TR4A IRS (Independent Rear Suspension).
In 1968 the TR4A was replaced by the TR5 and the TR250.
Our Triumph TR4A
The car is in excellent condition having undergone a total restoration of the bodywork in recent times.
The front and rear bumpers are new, with a well-preserved front grille: same for the driving lights and the tubular metal luggage rack installed on the rear hood.
The engine has been completely overhauled, with many components replaced or restored. The gearbox is smooth and with precise shifts.
The interior was recently restored, as were the black seats with white edging and the door paneling.
The original Jaeger instrumentation is in perfect working order with the original Triumph metal three-spoke steering wheel that sprouts from the wooden dashboard.
Well preserved black hood, no water leaks from the inside.
Original spoke rims with new tires.
A true British with unchanged charm with stable prices in the medium term, but able to satisfy even the most demanding enthusiast of the Triumph brand. The car has participated in many non-competitive historical re-enactments, including the 1994 Sanremo Historic Rally.
Today it is possible to view the car online, by booking a call with one of our commercial operators, via Skype, Zoom, Whatsapp and Google Meet platforms.
The car is visible in our showroom in Reggio Emilia, Italy.
