Furlonger are delighted to offer this awesome Porsche Carrera GT finished in Sand White over Black Leather interior.
The Carrera GT's development can be traced back to the 911 GT1 and LMP1-98 racing cars, however at the heart of its development was the engine. Initially, the car was going to hold a turbocharged six cylinder engine but was then redesigned to use a new V10. This was secretly built by Porsche for the Footwork Formula 1 Team in 1992 but later shelved, until it was used for the Le Mans prototype and increased to a 5.7L from a 5.5L. The 5.5L engine did not go to waste however, it was placed within the CGT concept car at the Geneva Motor Show in 2000. This drew lots of interest and attention to Porsche's stand in combination with the launch of the new Cayenne, which then encouraged Porsche to start developing a road car.
As years went by with protoypes and further development, the production of the Carrera GT started in 2004, with the first car being sold in the United States in January. The CGT had a carbon fibre monocoque and subframe, dry-sump lubrication and inboard suspension. The cars impressive rear wing would make an appearance at speeds above 70mph in order reduce lift, but could be manually raised should the driver want it up at any point by pressing a button in the centre console. The cars front and rear suspension consists of pushrod actuated shock absorbers and dampers with anti-roll bars. The car was also equipped with Porsche's latest brake system, a carbon fibre reinforced silicon carbide(C/SIC) ceramic composite brake system. At the heart of the GT was its formidable engine which produced 603 bhp, allowing the car to accelerate from 0-60 mph in 3.5 seconds and 0-100 mph in as little as 6.8 seconds. Accompanying its monstrous V10 engine was the manual gearbox, favoured by enthusiasts around the world today as many will agree that the Carrera GT was the last of the manual hypercar.
This Carrera GT was delivered new to Germany on 08/04/2004 before being sent to the UK shortly after. The car possesses a full Porsche main dealer service history, the last being completed by Porsche Reading in May 2019. An awesome example finished in a great colour combination, ready for its next owner!
