About this car:
This matching numbers car has been comprehensively restored to original specifications in 2016. The body has recently restored by Porsche Classic. The car is painted in its original Polo Red paint and all panel gaps and fittings show an exceptional finish. The engine has been overhauled and runs very smoothly. The car retains is original owner’s manual, jack and tool kit.
Model history:
In 1969, Porsche introduced the 911 B series which had slightly lengthened chassis. It moved the rear wheels on all 911 57 mm aft, increasing wheelbase from 2,211 to 2,268 millimeters. This improved the car’s handling at the limit. Fuel injection arrived both for the 911S and a new middle model, the 911E. The Targa version, with a stainless steel-clad roll bar, appeared the same year. It was equipped with a removable roof panel and a fixed glass rear window. The name ”Targa” - shield in Italian - came from the Targa Florio sports car road race in Sicily, in which Porsche had scored seven victories since 1956, with four more to come through 1973.
