"For the Person with Driving Ambition" – Dodge Magazine advertisement, 1976

In a 2014 retrospective, Hot Rod magazine gave some historical perspective on the Dodge Aspen R/T: "At the time it arrived on the scene, when Gap stores were new and the disco-rock wars had begun, the F-Body was actually a big deal for Chrysler. It was the first domestically built Chrysler passenger car since the fifties, to not use torsion-bar suspension, and the body was computer-styled to help mileage. Isolation of metal-to-metal contact made them quieter than previous Pentastar cars." The writers concluded: "Today, an Aspen R/T is a true rarity; the F-Body package was Motor Trend's Car of the Year in 1976."

Offered here in Sunfire Metallic Black-over-white is an extremely well maintained '76 Dodge Aspen R/T showing 99,800 miles, a very conservative 2,200 miles per-year on average. Further demonstrating that it was loved from the start, this well preserved Arizona car comes with its original window sticker, original owner's manual, and a history binder that chronicles the car's ownership from day one.

The car's exterior is virtually flawless. Uniformly glossy black paint and chrome trim are complemented with a full, optional R/T graphics package. Dual stripes-bright orange over orange-and-red-make for a can't-miss visual statement. Original factory spoilers are in place below the front bumper and atop the rear deck, and black rear quarter-window louvers were all part of the R/T option package. Styled steel wheels with trim rings are mounted with raised-white-letter Firestone Indy 500 tires.

Inside, the white vinyl upholstery on the high-back, front bucket seats (and echoed on the door trim) adds contrast and visual interest. The vertically pleated look is particularly attractive. Every interior surface-including the dash beneath its protective carpet mat cover-is in excellent condition. The dashboard design is driver-focused behind a sport steering wheel. Even the graphics identifying the instruments and various controls remain clear and sharp. The factory radio is in place, as are air-conditioning controls. The automatic-transmission shifter is mounted on the console (which features orange trim). The condition of the car's trunk is as clean and tidy as the cabin, and like the rest of the car, speaks to a level of meticulous owner care through the years.

Under the hood, the original 318-cubic-inch V8 holds center stage beneath a chrome air cleaner. The engine bay is nearly spotless with correctly routed "plumbing" and all components properly mounted. Manufacturer's original data and build tags remain in place. Viewed from underneath, there is no sign of chassis damage. The full dual exhaust is free of any sign of too-aggressive driving. A number of surfaces have been treated with a rust-preventing coating. Red disc brake calipers are mounted on the front axle.

The remarkable condition of this '76 Aspen R/T is shown from every angle-including from underneath-in the more than 160 high-definition photographs available at the GarageKeptMotors site. Of course, we also welcome in-person visits to our Grand Rapids, Michigan showroom to see the car up close, and sample its charms. Since our showroom is not open to the public, we ask that you call or email us in advance to arrange an appointment so that we can devote our full attention to you. In the same spirit, feel free to contact us directly with any questions.

In the hands of its next owner, we expect this Aspen R/T to visit many a cars-and-coffee gathering, possibly even including the Woodward Dream Cruise. Wherever it goes, we also expect it'll draw a crowd of MOPAR fans and admirers.
