Corvette or Chevrolet Corvette is a Chevrolet’s sports car created for the first time in 1953 for the purpose of GM Motorama, an automobile show organized by General Motors to present concepts vehicles or prototypes to the public. The model name was taken after a small warship, corvette, known for its manoeuvring capabilities and there have been seven generations of Chevrolet Corvette so far.
The fifth generation of Corvette, C5, introduced numerous upgrades comparing to previous series, for example, LS1 engine, upper rear suspension arm, hydro-formed side rails and super stiff chassis for the escalation of torsional rigidity. As a result, C5 was awarded the North American Car of the Year 1998. 16 years later, in 2014 the title returned to Corvette basing on its innovation, safety, value for the dollar or design determinants. The C7 Stingray received 211 points which was 26 points more than Mazda 3 in the second position, and 117 more than Cadillac CTS in the third.
Who Drives Corvette Cars
Corvette is a model that makes celebrities breathe heavily. One of them is George Clooney who’s been spotted many times arriving at movie premieres in a car of this particular car brand. Another actor and a Stingray enthusiast is Matthew McConaughey, as well as Nicholas Cage who can obtain a few times more than the car’s market value when he decides to say farewell to any of his Corvette’s classics. In 2015 the world’s attention was drawn to custom 2014 Corvette Stingray Z51 3LT with Nicholas Cage’s name above the VIN number. So, whether Mr Cage customized the piece or was just an inspiration for its creation, this clearly proves the strong relation between the two.
