Car Description

1991 Cadillac Allante Convertible

We're pleased to offer this somewhat obscure Cadillac for your consideration. The Allante is an attractive luxury convertible that offers sleek, handsome styling, a V8, and a luxurious interior. Not many of these luxury convertibles made their way to market, which is too bad since they are attractive and comfortable to drive. This car is one of 2500 Allantes which were built for the 1991 Model Year. Of which, only 376 were produced in Black. The most popular colors of the Allante were Pearl White and Red, which are much less understated than this Black Allante. This car is a great color combination - the burgundy interior in this Allante looks great paired with the black exterior.

The Allante added an affordable, Italian-styled convertible built by a trusted GM Division to the market, which at the time included the Mercedes Benz SL series, and the Jaguar XJS. The Allante which was designed by Italian firm Pininfarina which was known for iconic cars like the Ferrari Testarossa, Ferrari 365 Daytona, and numerous Alfa Romeos - just to name a few. The Allante bodies were built in Turin Italy and shipped "over the pond" on specially modified 747 jets for final assembly in Michigan. All that travel time and special treatment helps explain the price of a new Allante being almost twice the price of the Eldorado that it shared the Cadillac dealer showrooms with.

The exterior styling featured simple lines, very similar to the competition that was on the market at the time. The car features very interesting tail lights, chrome trim on the bumpers and rear decklid, and the unmistakable chrome egg-crate grille. This car offers the correct components right down to the red stripe that adorned the lower portion of the vehicle.

Fancy styling of the leather interior, which in this car is Burgundy, added to the positive driving experience to be had. The interior features a driver centric dashboard in which the dashboard itself is turned toward the driver. Your passenger won't be changing the climate control or radio settings when you're not looking. Interior highlights are power windows, power mirrors, driver information center, electronic climate control, and power seats. There is electronic assist for a few of the steps involved with putting up or down the canvas convertible top.

The 4.5L V8 under the hood powers the front wheels, which was a different configuration than you would expect in a Cadillac at the time. The V8 sounds great, and produces a fair amount of power in order to make this Caddy fun to drive. The Allante may be a bit obscure compared with the Cadillac staples like the Eldorado or Seville, but it's a really nice luxury convertible that's definitely one to consider. This car is a fine example of an early 90's Cadillac that will get a little more attention from those who know what it is than a run-of-the-mill Eldorado of the same era.
