Acura is the synonym for luxury and high-performance in the automobile world. The brand was introduced in 1986 as a subsidiary of Honda. It was the first luxury brand of Japanese cars and a luxury bestseller on the US market after the launch. Acura’s luxurious executive car, Legend, was so successful that other brands such as Toyota and Nissan began manufacturing their own high-end vehicles mainly Infiniti (Nissan) and Lexus (Toyota).
One of Acura’s renowned models is a sports car, NSX (New Sports Experimental), equipped with a six-cylinder engine, and ready to compete with high-performance sports cars including Porsche and Ferrari. The NSX was an inspiration for McLaren when the F1 model was being designed and created by Gordon Murray and Ron Dennis. It also appeared in one of the most popular car-themed movie series, The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift.
Acura’s three-row luxury crossover, the MDX, has also been very successful. It was given very high rates in reviews and beat its numerous SUV competitors in comparison tests after the model was launched. Its promotion campaigns focused on the harmony between man and machine and, therefore, used the meaningful phrase “Made for Mankind” to describe the MDX. In 2001 the model won the North American Truck of the Year award surpassing Ford Escape and Toyota Sequoia.
Who Drives Acura Cars
Every brand has its loyal enthusiasts and Acura is no different. Mark Zuckerberg, Internet entrepreneur and a founder of Facebook, owns an Acura TSX, a medium-size entry-level car. The youngest billionaire in the world trusts and chooses the brand with good reason for Acura provides safety, sporty performance and comfort, and, as Zuckerberg himself claims, it “is not ostentatious”. So, if you give bling-bling a “no-go”, perhaps Acura is the right car for you.
