About JamesEdition

Practical information

  • Is it safe to buy expensive things this way?

Smart consumers have always bought and sold goods internationally. Until a few years ago, only intrepid people dared to handle the red tape that came with these complex transactions. That is not the case today. Buying and selling across borders is easier and simpler than ever before. Our dealers have great experience shipping, insuring and handling payment from anywhere in the world, talk to them directly and they will be happy to help.

To keep safe, read our safe buying advice. We do our best to make sure that listings on JamesEdition are authentic and from credible dealers but take no responsibility for any transactions undertaken on our site.

  • How can I find out about shipping costs?

Our Dealers are well equipped to answer questions about shipping, insurance and payment. Contact the dealer for the listing you are interested in and they’ll be happy to help.

  • What is VAT?

Value Added Tax(VAT) or goods and services tax (GST) is a tax that you pay when you buy goods and services. Where VAT is payable it's normally included in the price of the goods or service you buy. Depending on where the buyer resides, VAT can often be reclaimed or handled in other ways.

Some European listings appear to have a higher price than their US or Asian counterparts, this can be due to VAT issues. Please contact the broker directly to see whether the VAT (sales tax) applies to you.

  • Are all listings excluding VAT?

JamesEdition aims to create a transparent market for premium goods. As such, we aim to present all listings as excluding VAT (Sales Tax) so that prices are comparable. This is not always possible. In most European countries for example, dealers are obligated by law to include the VAT in the promoted price. Boats marketed in Europe can be marked as either VAT paid, VAT unpaid, or VAT exempt.

  • What is P.O.R?

It stands for Price on Request, which means you have to ask the dealer what the item costs. Yes, we hate it as much as you do.

  • How often does JamesEdition update the currency rates?

    We update currencies daily.

  • Why doesn’t the seller respond to my inquiry?

Some dealers have small operations and are very busy, give them two-three working days to get back to you. Let us know if they don’t and we’ll help out.

  • How do I contact the seller?

You can send an email to the seller by filling out the form on the listing page. We also provide the phone number in the seller information so that you can call directly.
